THE LITTLE THINGS
CHILLED WEEKEND
Getting to the Beach
Usually, traveling can be quite boring but car journeys to the beach are always fun! It takes just under an hour and a half to get there from where we live so it's not too long, but it flies by. Sometimes we get some food and stop at Maccies on the way down for some late-night dinner but one thing you can always count on is the tunes will be blaring! Our friends that we went with this time, Somer and her boyfriend Josh, are obsessed with all things music so Matt made sure to put on a lively playlist.
The Bonfire
As soon as we get to the beach and park up, it's all systems go to get the fire started. We have a fire pit we bought about 2 months ago which does us perfectly! It's a great size for a little fire and it keeps it all contained. Matt is always in charge of starting the fire, he's really good at it I know he loves to do it, I think it's the whole manliness of it all, but he is very good at getting it lit quickly and sustaining it throughout the night. It was quite chilly last weekend; the seafront breeze is killer.
Once it was ticking away nicely, the relaxation began definitely for Matt anyway! It was so nice to take a breather from everything and just unwind from the week before. We've got to remember that even with the business grind, we need to take time to ourselves, and this was the perfect opportunity.
For me, there's nothing more relaxing than the sound of the sea. It's always been my reset button if you like and whenever I've been stressed or upset, the sound of the waves hitting the sand sorts me right out.
The Night
Because Matt drove, Josh ordered us some pizza from Pizza Hut to say thank you which was lovely of him, and the pizza was banging. Matt and I shared a large and went for a simple pepperoni, it's always been one of Matt's favorites and you can't go wrong with a pepperoni. We did pack some extra snacks for the night which I quickly munched my way through! The only thing that was missing was a nice cup of tea.
It got to about 1:30am and we ran out of wood for the fire, so Matt and Josh cleared it all up and packed it all away again whilst Somer and I were packing up the rest of the things we'd taken like blankets and towels.
Matt kept mentioning to me in the car that I was falling asleep, but I was adamant I wasn't (even though I knew he was right). After about 10 minutes I gave in and said I was going to sleep, to which I think Josh and Somer quickly joined. I felt quite bad for Matt though as he was driving back home with a car full of people who were asleep, not the best entertainment!
All in all, it was a great night! So much fun and a much-needed chill time. I think it's easy to forget when you start up a business that you're still human, you still need time to relax and enjoy things with friends as much as any other person. I can't wait 'till our next adventure!!
